Minutes
Paula, Maureen, Yoshiko and I met at the library on Saturday, June 9. Due to commitments, the meeting was shorter than usual, so we focused on future events for the Guild.
The library will have limited Saturday hours this summer. Those in attendance discussed this and an executive decision was agreed upon. The Guild *will not* meet this summer. Informal gatherings may occur and I will post that information if/when it becomes available. I would also encourage folks to check out the Rhode Island and New Hampshire Guilds during our down time.
Future Plans
The four of us discussed ideas for the 2001-2002 meetings. Our thoughts included a bargello swap, a bo-hunk (e.g. BIG) bead swap, a polymer and paper clip bracelet demo and a demo of one of Pier's techniques that Maureen learned from Pier's presentation at Beadesigner. I will try and line-up these and more ideas later this summer. If you have other thoughts, please send me an email.
The topic of displaying our creations was also brought up. The library has several display cubes in the entry-way which are often empty. We could use a few or use them all. One idea was to have an entire polymer clay display that would include everything from a pasta machine, polymer books and bricks
of clay to how we make canes to necklaces, earrings, vessels, etc. We've discussed this in the past. It may be time to give this some serious consideration.
Craft Shows
The Booster club at the Burlington High School holds its annual craft show in October. The Guild would consider hosting a table if there is enough interest. Paula's recommendations for this show include pens, key chains, beads, etc. The library typically holds their craft show in November. The Guild has participated in the past and we might consider this again.
